AIDS TO NAVIGATION SYSTEM

Promote safety, aid national defense, aid navigation, prevent collisions, prevent wrecks, serve commerce, assess the amount and nature of traffic, benefit the public and preserve natural resources.

Aids to Navigation Team Los Angeles-Long Beach (ANT LA-LB), was established on the 18th of April, 1986. The primary mission of ANT LA-LB is the establishment, maintenance, and servicing of Aids to Navigation (ATON), which includes: buoys, foghorns, jetty lights, and lighthouses. It's area of responsibility covers over 300 miles of California coastline and encompasses 8 offshore islands.

ANT LA-LB maintains 130 assigned aids, and 64 aids as a secondary responsibility should the primary unit, Coast Guard Buoy Tender George Cobb, be unable to respond to an outage. ANT LA-LB also services ten primary aids, such as; Point Hueneme Lighthouse, Los Angeles Light, Point Vicente Lighthouse, Point Conception Lighthouse and Point Piedras Blancas Lighthouse. ANT personnel are on 24 hour recall for rapid response to any ATON discrepancy. Our mission is to provide the best possible navigational service to the mariner.
